Learning to LISTEN, or STUDYING a PERSON'S liKE's and INTERESTS is Hard work at times. THEODORE ROOSEVELT would study a person's interests. The day before he met someone sometimes till late at night. He would study a person's intersts for HOURS!! All to Learn WHAT INTERESTED THEM!

Dale Carnegie Tells a Story about how a certain Sales person had tried for four years to get a New York hotel's business. He actually even rented a room in the hotel, so he could get their business. Mr. Duvernoy (Bread Sales person) Said "after studying Human Relations, I resolved . I decided to find out to change my tactics what interested the Manager, What Caught His Enthusiasm."
"I Discovered he Belonged to the Hotel Greeters of America, He not only belonged to them but his bubbling enthusiasm had made him President.------ So when I saw him the next day. I began TALKING about THE GREETERS, ------- Before I had left his office, He had 'SOLD' me a membership in his organiztion."
"In the MEANTIME I HAD SAID NOTHING ABOUT BREAD, But a FEW Days Later the Steward of his Hotel phoned me to come over with samples and Prices."
"I don't know what you did to the old boy," the steward said "But He Sure is Sold on You".
What A difference of a reception. He went from trying for FOUR YEARS, without any success. So that the manager HADN'T BOUGHT his line of bread for his Hotel. And to also even renting a room in the Hotel for his business, also with no success.
To being received kINDLY and LISTENED to and to GETTING his business. ALL BECAUSE HE CHOOSE TO FIND OUT WHAT INTERESTED THE MANAGER!!
